Fun at Rutland Waters

I am so grateful to Skye and Katie for taking Manali and me to Rutland Water today. We had such a lovely 🦮🐕‍🦺 walk.

Manali really enjoyed the water. If I am not mistaken, this was her first ever experience of a water body.

I was unsure how she would react but there was no need to worry. She happily walked into the water and stood there enjoying it, and watching Skye going crazy fighting with imaginary enemies.

I have to confess it killed my back, and I am in a lot of pain this evening, but I will happily do this again next weekend if we are invited.

Being out there in such a scenic place, fresh air, good company, and two happy dogs was worth the aching hips and a lower spine that feels like someone is hammering it.

Well… there is no getting away from the fact that I have Ankylosing Spondylitis, and it will always be a part of my life, whatever I do or don’t do 🤷🏽‍♀️

Giving Manali lots of happy experiences in whatever time I have left with her is very important.

She is 11 and half and slowing down a lot 😔

I am conscious of the fact that once she is gone I may never have the chance to adopt another dog. I am doing my best to share wonderful experiences with her, just as I did with Gypsy all those years ago.

My time with Gypsy was also limited, but only because she was not mine. She lived with me for 2 years and then she went back to my brother once he had a settled posting.

She did have lots of adventures with Shyamal and Chat, but I don’t think they ever had to hitch a ride in a Tata truck in the middle of nowhere while on a motorbike safari 😀
